Helltides, one of the coolest new endgame features in Diablo IV Items, gives you a reason to explore areas of Diablo 4 you've visited before, like Broken Peak or Scosglen. What's more, Helltides is a great source of loot, and you can spend special currency for a chance to get items in specific armor or weapon slots.

Once you reach Nightmare World level 3, you will see Helltides appear on the map every hour. Each Infernal Tide has a limited duration of one hour after spawning.

Helltides are relatively easy to find when the map is open, as all parts of the area turn blood red, as shown below:

In these areas, you can find many higher-level monsters and even some new resource nodes like Demon Rose. When you kill enemies, complete events, or anything else in Helltide, you will eventually earn Spooky Ashes. Those little red shards are really valuable because you can use them to get better loot.

It should be noted here that Ash Anomaly Caches are expensive and you lose half of your current Anomaly Ash every time you die. The good news is that if you leave the Helltide area and return while it is still active, you will still have Cinder. Charcoal doesn't expire until Helltide is gone when you get it.

As you explore Helltide - if you just look at your map - you will see all sorts of chests. Some of them are labeled as gun cases and others are labeled as "armored cases". When you approach this chest, you will see an icon hovering above it indicating what type of item (helmet, breastplate, one-handed weapon, etc.) the chest will drop.

Each type of breast requires a different amount of abnormal ash:

Afflicted Protection Gift (armor) - 75 Anomalous Ash

Gift of Tortured Jewels (Rings and Pendants) - 125 Anomalous Ash

Prize for torture weapons (one-handed and two-handed weapons) - 150 anomalous slags.

Mysterious Torture Gift (Miscellaneous) - 175 Anomalous Ash

Each chest you purchase contains a ton of gear, and there's a good chance you'll get more than one legendary item when you open it. This is a great way to especially improve the armor you want to replace by going through dungeons or doing other things.
