Elden Ring Fia Questline Walkthrough - Age of Duskborn Ending

Overview

Fia's questline revolves around the mysterious Deathbed Companion and leads to the challenging boss Lichdragon Fortissax. Completing this quest unlocks the Age of Duskborn ending, a unique, somber finale emphasizing necrotic themes. The quest spans from Roundtable Hold to the depths beneath the Erdtree.

Step 1: Meet Fia at the Roundtable Hold

When you first reach Roundtable Hold, find Fia sitting on a bed near Smithing Master Hewg.

Talk to her to initiate the quest; no need to embrace yet.

Step 2: Embrace Fia to Receive the Weathered Dagger

After reaching Altus Plateau and resting at any Site of Grace there, return to Fia.

This time, embrace (hug) her.

She will give you the Weathered Dagger, key Elden Ring items for the quest.

Step 3: Give the Weathered Dagger to D, Hunter of the Dead

Go to the main hall of Roundtable Hold and find D, Hunter of the Dead.

Give him the Weathered Dagger. He will pass it on to the rightful owner.

Step 4: Kill Two Shardbearer Demigods

Defeat any two Shardbearer bosses (e.g., Godrick, Rennala, Radahn, Morgott).

Afterward, speak to Fia again.

She will give you a map related to a Black Knifeprint (not required for Fia's quest, but related to Rogier's questline).

Step 5: Find Fia in the Locked Room at Roundtable Hold

Reload Roundtable Hold. Fia will have moved to a locked room down the hall from Hewg.

The doors are open now; find her near a corpse.

Loot the Twinned Armor Set from the body.

Talk to Fia and reload the area - she will have disappeared from here.

Step 6: Reach Deeproot Depths

You have two ways to get to Deeproot Depths:

Kill the Valiant Gargoyle boss duo in Northeast Siofra Aqueduct, then rest in the coffin in their arena to be transported to Deeproot Depths.

Or, descend through the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds below Leyndell to the Cathedral of the Forsaken Grace, find the hidden path leading deeper into the Erdtree roots.

Head to the upper-northeast part of Deeproot Depths.

Climb the giant roots east of the Nameless Eternal City Site of Grace to reach the arena.

Step 7: Defeat Fia's Champions Boss Fight

In the arena, prepare for waves of five NPC invaders.

Fight them in stages: first one, then another, then the last three simultaneously.

Summons and shields are very helpful.

Melee players should aim for backstabs; spellcasters can use ranged or AoE spells.

Defeating them unlocks the next part.

Step 8: Hug Fia at the Prince of Death's Throne

Rest at the new Site of Grace called Prince of Death's Throne.

Fia appears and asks you to kill her - choose instead to hug her ("No, I want to be held").

She gives you the next objective: find the Cursemark of Death.

Step 9: Obtain the Cursemark of Death

Progress through the Ranni questline until you can access the Divine Tower of Limgrave using Ranni's key.

Retrieve the Cursemark of Death from there.

Step 10: Return the Cursemark to Fia

Bring the Cursemark back to Fia at Deeproot Depths.

Give it to her; you receive the Radiant Baldachin's Blessing.

Reload the area; Fia will be asleep.

Step 11: Defeat the Lichdragon Fortissax Boss

Interact with sleeping Fia to enter the Deathbed Dream, triggering the boss fight with Lichdragon Fortissax.

Fortissax is a challenging undead dragon with unique attacks.

Tips for the fight:

Recommended level: ~80 with +16+ weapons.

Fortissax resists Lightning and Holy damage but is weak to Piercing.

Head attacks do double damage.

Use armor with good Physical, Lightning, and Fire resistances.

Melee fighters should rely on dodging (rolling) rather than blocking.

Spellcasters should maintain distance and use AoE spells.

Step 12: Collect the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince

After defeating Fortissax, Fia's body is next to you.

Pick up the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince from her corpse.

This rune is crucial for the Age of Duskborn ending.

Step 13: (Optional) Give the Twinned Armor to D's Brother

Near the Valiant Gargoyle arena, find D's unnamed brother.

Give him the Twinned Armor set you looted earlier.

Return to Fia's corpse and witness a monologue.

Reload the area; the brother disappears, leaving behind the armor and the unique Inseparable Sword greatsword.

Doing this after completing Fia's quest ensures you don't prematurely end her questline.

Rewards Summary

Twinned Armor Set: Middling-weight armor with a unique aesthetic.

Radiant Baldachin's Blessing: A helpful buff from Fia.

Mending Rune of the Death-Prince: Required for the Age of Duskborn ending.

Inseparable Sword (optional): Unique Greatsword obtained after giving Twinned Armor to D's brother.

Final Notes

You can complete Fia's quest and obtain the Mending Rune without committing to the Age of Duskborn ending. The runes are an option among several possible endings.
